To: "Homicide: Life on the Street" Fans
I'm all too happy to promote myself, thanks! The book ("The Unofficial
Companion') is being shipped out this week, but the publisher tells me that
it won't appear in stores for another month. I assume that delay also
applies to amazon.com, but I don't know for sure.
The book contains a complete episode guide up about 2/3 of the way through
Season Six (when the manuscript had to be finished), with plot synopses,
cast and crew lists, behind the scenes notes, and some analysis/commentary.
It also has more extensive behind the scenes chapters for each season,
focusing on the production's complicated relationship with NBC.
There are biographies for the cast and principal creative team, as well,
and some additional fact lists in the appendices
I worked in a technical capacity on Season One for one of the facilities
hired by the H:LotS team, and I know many of the people who have either appeared
in guest roles or worked with the crew, so in addition to my perspective
as a fan, I've tried to give some factual information I thought fans would
be interested in (a fair bit of which has not appeared in print before).
Thanks for the opportunity for some shameless self-promotion, Jim!
